The Tensleep Preserve, which is part of The Nature Conservancy, has been reserved for a free overnight field trip for Meadowlark members on Saturday and Sunday, July 8th and 9th. The Tensleep Preserve is located at the base of the Bighorn Mountains, about 15 miles from the town of Tensleep. The Preserve has a tent camp with 12 floored tents and 2 cots each, with kitchen and lodge for meeting (cost is free to Meadowlark members.) There will be guided bird walks and nature hikes. The hikes are moderate in difficulty and portions may be off-trail. Meadowlark Audubon will provide the Saturday evening dinner. The cost is free to Meadowlark Audubon members.

Attendees will need to provide their own bedding and meals other than Saturday night dinner. Cleanup of the lodge and area will be required. For those unable to stay at the Preserve, camping and lodging are available in nearby Tensleep at your own expense. No pets and no campers or other tents are allowed in the Preserve.

Please email Alice Flyr at aflyr@tctwest.net to let her know you would like to participate.

Birding Etiquette

Novice and seasoned birders alike are reminded to show consideration for their fellow birders by keeping talking and other disruptive activities to a minimum while on the trail and observing birds.

Dogs are best left at home. Children are welcome and encouraged, but need to be quiet and respectful of others when on bird outings. Our field trip leaders volunteer their time and expertise; please do your part to make the trips as enjoyable and rewarding as possible for all the participants.
